LECTURES · W.E.B. DU BOIS
The data visualizations of W.E.B. Du Bois
The Du Bois talk started at Tapestry 2018 and became the one I was asked to give most. After the Oxford Black History Month lecture in October 2020 it travelled through 2021: BIPOC Design History in January, the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice and the Data + Diversity webinar in February, NYU in May, and North Carolina Central University’s Office of Institutional Research and Analysis on 9 September (the recording above). In February 2022 I gave it inside McKinsey with Silas Munro, alongside a BIPOC design history roundtable.
For a conversation version, Rebeca Pop’s Vizlogue interview from September 2020 covers the same ground in 38 minutes.
