Beyond the Blobs: Visualizing the Psychedelic Brain

A panel at MAPS’s Psychedelic Science 2025 in Denver with Imran Khan, Jen Holmberg, Joshua Siegel, Ethan Goldwater and Lindsay Cameron: neuroscientists, science communicators and artists asking what psychedelic brain images actually show, and what they hide.

We traced a visual history of psychedelic neuroscience, from early anatomical drawings to modern neuroimaging, and looked at how the images that stuck shape the science, its funding and how the public understands it. Also at the conference: a memorable talk by Alex and Allyson Grey.
